Whether you have arthritis or just need a helping hand in the kitchen, the OXO Good Grips Twisting Jar Opener with Base Pad is the perfect partner. From small bottles that are hard to get a good grip on to jars lids that require a lot of strength, the Twisting Jar Opener makes quick work of any lid with minimal effort needed. To use, just place the base pad on a flat surface in front of you and put the bottle or jar on top; the non-slip surface will help keep the jar from sliding. Ensure the Jar Opener is open, then position it on top of the jar in the middle of the lid. Holding the jar steady in one hand, use the other hand to turn the Jar Opener counterclockwise until the sharp teeth grip the lid. Continue turning the handle until the lid is open. When you’re finished, the base pad secures to the Jar Opener for convenient storage.

Works like a charm, opens mason jars with very little effort.
Works like a charm! I could open some mason jars full of pickles that I had left on the window seal for more than a few years – they were sealed absolutely locked. This little fella could open each of them in seconds. The little non-slip mat holds the jar in place so that you can use both hands. Requires very little effort to open the most stubborn jars.Just FYI, I also bought the ‘opener’ made of tube steel – that was a terrible buy and I returned it.This one really works.I highly recommend it.

Opens any jar with ease
This is the BEST jar opener I have ever had. It opens ketchup bottles that I have not used for a while and the lid won’t budge any other way. It takes the strain off hands. It opens big jars too. This is an awesome product.

No pressure
This jar opener works well, once I learned how to use it properly. I have weak hand strength and small hands. I’ve always struggled to open tightly sealed jars. Initially, I couldn’t get this to work and was afraid I’d have to send it back. I watched numerous videos before and after my purchase, but nobody talks about avoiding the urge to apply pressure, like I was used to doing when I didn’t have this tool. This tool replaces any downward pressure with a gentle counterclock-wise twist using the tool handle. I had to learn to let the tool do the heavy lifting. Once I realized this, it’s been super easy to open and reopen stubborn jars. I also tried it on a plastic peanut butter jar (Costco size) and it worked fine, no damage to the jar or the lid. The included slip resistant pad is handy and easily removed/restored to the tool when done. It helps keep the jar stable. My one negative comment: I don’t have a lot of confidence in the durability – this tool is mostly plastic, thus the 4 star rating.

Very useful tool and so glad I bought it
This jar opener works so well. Fits most jars, easy to turn and makes it so easy to get lids off jars or plastic containers. A rubber pad comes with it making the jar slip resistant and its light weight.

Twisting Jar Opener
We’re older and having a harder time opening jars and bottles. Love this jar opener for the sizes it accommodates. I like the base pad also to help hold the jar in place. My only con would be that it doesn’t open quite enough to open our pickle jars, just by 1/4″ or less – but I’m going to check at the store and see if any of the jar lids are slightly smaller. Other than that, it works great and helps a lot!

if you have arthritis it not for you.
this iar opener is still hard on the hand with arthritis cause you have to hand strength to turn it. My hands hurt and if a jar is extra tight it won’t work for you. my son got me a battery operated jar opener and it doesn’t require any strength. This one is not a ease of removal.

My fingers tend to get injured when opening tight jars so my doctor recommended I get a jar opener. Bought this one and I absolutely love it. It opens jars as well as bottles with twist cap. I love that it automatically tightens itself to the right size while opening. Totally saves my hands.
