Battery power only. No way to plug this in anywhere, anyhow.
I ordered this mostly because I wanted another kitchen scale and I was intrigued by the “smart” features. What did not expect and can’t believe as for this to have no option to plug it in. It’s not that you can’t plug it into a receptacle in a wall, you can’t plug it in with a USB cord of any type you can’t plug it in in any way shape or form. If you want to use this the only way to do so is FOUR triple AAA batteries. Notably, the description mentions repeatedly, the fact that the batteries are included, but it doesn’t say anything anywhere about the fact that the batteries are the only way to power it. I’ve seen toys that require batteries and cannot be powered in any other way, but I have never in my life seen a scale or any other tool or kitchen device that could not be plugged in. For years now plugging in devices has been plugging in them into a USB port, but that has become so standard that you can even have USB ports in your wall receptacles alongside AC receptacles. And sometimes devices don’t even include the charging cables any longer. But this is the first for me, a device that requires electricity and can get it only through a number of batteries and then when the batteries die, you have to dispose of those batteries, which, if you don’t know you’re not supposed to throw them in the trash and you can’t even put them in recycling they have to go to a special hazardous waste disposal that every municipality has, but that almost no one bothers to use even though batteries have to go to these special facilities because the heavy metals inside them are so incredibly toxic and hazardous to your health. I don’t think they’re especially hazardous to your health all the batteries intact, but no one, what an environmental and for all living things that require air and food and water all of which are contaminated by things like batteries in landfills or simply tossed on the street, I long avoided them. Obviously, or if you’ve never thought about it, I can tell you that all of the devices you plug-in have batteries in them that are just as toxic. But those will last years if not decades, and when you dispose of a device with an internal battery there’s a good chance that someone will scoop it up because it will have other parts and hopefully although probably not, they will dispose of the batteries correctly. In any event, even if you think there’s nothing wrong with dumping heavy metal, toxic waste like batteries wherever it’s convenient to do so the fact is, there’s nothing convenient about something that you can’t plug in even though in most cases, it would sit on a kitchen counter and never move. This is not the kind of thing that you are going to take with you because you want to weigh your breakfast in the kitchen in the morning and then weigh your bagel on the train into the city and then weigh your lunch at your desk in your office and then etc. etc. This is something that most people would keep in their kitchen and would have no problem plugging in. Except that you can’t.

Easy to use
I don’t need all of the “high tech” stuff that this scale claims to do. For me, I simply wanted an easy to use, digital food scale, and this one fits that bill. Simply turn it on, select what unit you want the weight displayed in, and then weigh your item or items. Yesterday I made a 2lb bread in my bread maker, and when it was done, I went to weigh it as it looked bigger than normal, and I was right. It weighed in at 2.34 lbs.
